Crown Vetch

roadside

Right now the purple and yellow crown vetch is blooming on the sides of our roads, such as Bethlehem Pike, Susquehanna Road, and others in front of private residences. While these are quite pretty and usefully hold back erosion, these plants are a deer magnets coaxing them out of the woods and could be a reason for deer/car collisions. The township and PennDot should be encouraged to remove these invasive plants which are taking over banks, slopes and hot/dry areas. It’s time to find native plants that will do the job and not attract deer into dangerous areas.
